LADY HAWKINS’ SCHOOL

Find out more about our Governors

The Governing Body has three core strategic functions. These are:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  2. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

The board of governors operates at a strategic level, leaving the headteacher and senior colleagues responsible and accountable to it for the operational day-to-day running of the school.

Our Governing Body is made up of volunteers from the local community, parents and members of school staff.  Each governor brings their own range of skills and expertise to the governing body.

I am a Kingtonian and attended Lady Hawkins’ School from Year 7 right through to Year 13. I studied an Events Management Degree at the University of Gloucestershire then moved back to the area and have worked for NFU Mutual for over 5 years. I am very community minded and am heavily involved with the community organisations as well as being Chairman of Kington Chamber of Trade for over 2 years.
