Parent & Carer Resources

Lady Hawkins’ School

UPDATE FROM THE HEADTEACHER:

Dear Parent / Carer,

I would like to start by thanking you all for your support and understanding during this difficult time for our school.  I understand how tricky it is as a parent to juggle working from home with supporting my own children and the challenges that this presents.  It would seem, from the announcement last night, that this situation is going to continue for some weeks to come and Lady Hawkins’ School will continue to support you as much as we can during that time.

Teachers will be continuing to set work through microsoft teams and collect in a piece of work on a weekly basis.  Those staff who feel that it is more appropriate will hold video conference sessions for students and I am sure that these will be well received.  The latest guidance from the teaching unions is that live lessons are to be discouraged due to concerns for everyone’s online safety and we will abide by that advice.

Following on from the announcement by Mr Johnson last night, we are planning carefully to reduce as much as we can the risks to staff and students when we are told that they are to come back to school.  It seems most likely at the moment that current Year 10 will be required to resume their schooling for ‘some time’ before the summer holidays and we are focusing on them at this time. I sincerely hope that we can see our students soon so as to reintroduce them to a more normal form of education.

Thank you to those who have sent in feedback, we have taken onboard your comments.  We have been in contact with some of you over the past weeks to try and iron out any issues which have arisen.  Staff are available online for questions relating to their subjects, but there may be times when we are not available due to us balancing work and the needs of our own children too, however we will continue to do our best.  I would encourage you to check that your children are able to access the work, that they are able to access the help which is on offer and that they are able to access the feedback from staff.  If there are any problems then please contact us through the usual routes.

Thank you, stay alert and stay safe.

Mr P Jennings
